Aquaculture is the aquatic equivalent of agriculture or land farming. Broadly speaking, it covers livestock (including crustaceans, fish and molluscs) and plants (including algae and freshwater macrophytes), aquaculture occurs in inland (freshwater) and coastal (brackish water, seawater) areas.
